Ray RichardsonRay Richardson is a London based artist who graduated from Goldsmiths in 1987. He has since constantly exhibited his work across the UK and internationally, with two British Council Awards, a BP Portrait Award and work in collections across the world and the UK, such as the National Portrait Gallery. This current exhibition is dedicated to his drawings and contains many of Ray's familiar motifs: his trade-mark images are cinematic, dynamic pictures, that although filled with urban tension are not overtly hostile, instead there is action, humour and often multiple narrative levels. He depicts characters from his familiar native environment, with generous helpings of his child-to-manhood memories thrown in, creating a British urban scenery of drama played out in pubs, parks, football matches and on the street.
