Ray Richardson
Ray Richardson is a London based artist who graduated from Goldsmiths in 1987. He has since constantly exhibited his work across the UK and internationally, with two British Council Awards, a BP Portrait Award and work in collections across the world and the UK, such as the National Portrait Gallery. We hold works relating to Ray's drawing practice, which contain many of his familiar motifs: his trade-mark images are cinematic, dynamic pictures, that although filled with urban tension are not overtly hostile, instead there is action, humour and often multiple narrative levels. He depicts characters fromhis familiar native environment, with generous helpings of his child-to-manhood memories thrown in, creating a British urban scenery of drama played out in pubs, parks, football matches and on the street.
