Flying - Alan Stones

£270.00

Alan Stones
Flying, 1997
Lithograph, edition 45/85
31.6 x 40cm (image)
Framed

The print is signed by the artist.

Alan Stones was born in Manchester in 1947, and since 1982 has lived and worked near Penrith in Cumbria. An accomplished draughtsman, his paintings, drawings and prints are essentially human in their concerns. His pictures depict people and they also depict nature - but this is nature either as a metaphor for human activity or nature very much affected by man.
In 1985 Alan began making lithographs after winning an award from The Gulbenkian Foundation to experiment in printmaking. In the mid 1990's, after a three month residency in the vast open landscape of the Falkland Islands, his prints became much more minimal.
